Beach Opening Day in Nago 名護では海開き！

Long-Awaited Beach Opening day at the 21st Century Forest Park in Nago! 

沖縄県名護市の21世紀の森公園のビーチでは

本日4月1日土曜日、待ちに待った海開き。

It was a bit chilly and had drizzle rain,but ｗe did beach clean-up, 

joined Beach Opening ceremony, 　and enjoyed BBQ afterwards. 

ちょっと寒くて小雨も降っていましたが、

みなさんとビーチクリーンをし、オープニングセレモニーに参加し、

その後　BBQを楽しんできました。

YIGA was introduced at the Opening ceremony!

Hananosato Garden Festa 花の里ガーデンフェスタ

Hananosato Garden Festa was also held 

at the same day of the cherry blossom festival, at Nago fishing port.

Nago Sakura Matsuri (Cherry blossom festival) 名護さくら祭り

Jan 28 and 29 were Sakura Matsuri(Cherry blossom festival) which is one of the biggest and cheerful festivals in Nago city.

いきなり名護が賑わいます。　寒緋桜もきれいに咲いていました。

The Cherry Blossom festivals at Yaedake, Nakijin and Nago  in Yambaru  are being scheduled at the end of this month.

Yambaru Yummy Market / やんばるほおばるカーニバル ①

Anybody plan to visit the Ocean Expo Park this weekend?
On 17 and 18 Dec from 10:00～17:00 there will be "Yambaru Yummy Market" is held at Churaumi plaza in the Ocean Expo Park.

You can buy a lot of delicious Yambaru (Northern Okinawa) products like Chinsuko(Okinawan cookie), Sheekwasa(Okinawan flat lemon) drink, Sataandagi(Okinawan dounuts) 、Mango sweets and lots more.

Three members of YIGA(Yambaru Interpreter Guide Asocciation) will go and help this event. We will be happy to see you then!

Ocean Expo Park

週末、12月10日土曜日、11日日曜日に

名護市屋部にある北部農林高校の農業祭があり、行ってきた。

　　

野菜、野菜の苗、様々な植物、食品が新鮮で手ごろな値段で買えるとあって

地元のみなさんに大人気!

On weekend, I went to a campus festival of Hokubu Agricultural High School. 

Because we can buy products they make, fresh vegetables, pots of plants and flowers, in reasonable prices, a lot of local people come and visit.

ハーブ、野菜、観葉食物、パン、ケーキ、焼き芋,いろいろ買ってきた。

みんなの学ぶ姿勢、育てた野菜や植物、製品全てとても素晴らしい！

I bought some plants of herbs, greens and some bread & cakes, and baked sweet potatoes. 

I really admire what students learn and products they make

しかし ... 沖縄の人が並ぶのが嫌いだと言うのは違うと思うな。
パン、ケーキ等を買うには1時間半から2時間、焼き芋を買うのにも1時間以上の列。並んでいるところに身内や知り合いがいると割り込んで来てしまうし、それに特に文句を言う人もいないし、小さい子供達は退屈して騒ぐし泣くし、かなり我慢強くなくちゃ無理〜  

Mind you … People said Okinawan people do not like to line up, but I do not believe. They lined up hours to buy breads, cakes, and baked potatoes. When someone saw their neighbors or friends they cut in a line and nobody complains, small kids were shouting , crying and running around, so we got to be really patient.
