Nago Sakura Matsuri (Cherry blossom festival) 名護さくら祭り

Jan 28 and 29 were Sakura Matsuri(Cherry blossom festival) which is one of the biggest and cheerful festivals in Nago city.

1月28日土曜日＆29日土曜日は、名護さくら祭りでした。
いきなり名護が賑わいます。　寒緋桜もきれいに咲いていました。

Today is the New Year's Day according to the lunar calendar.

In Okinawa, it is popular to cerebrate a new year in lunar calendar, 

not like in main land Japan.

日本国内ではほとんど行われませんが

沖縄では、旧正月をお祝いします。

People prepare New Year's dishes,  and you can see 'Big catch flags' on ships in the fishing port to celebrate the lunar New Year's Day.

旧正月のお祝いのご馳走を準備し

漁港では船に大漁旗を掲げて旧正月を祝います。

Ume the plum blossom オーシッタイの梅

Flower viewing season has come, here in Yambaru!

Ume or the plum blossom flowers are rare in Okinawa, so that many people drive to this small village Ooshittai to see these delicate white flowers.

やんばるは、そろそろお花のシーズン。　スタートは梅から。

梅は沖縄では珍しいので、このこじんまりしたオーシッタイ集落も

週末は梅見客の車でいっぱいになります。

On Jan 19, went to see Ume the plum blossoms in Ooshittai, unfortunately it was raining, but the plum blossoms are beautifully blooming,

１月１９日あいにくの雨でしたが、梅を見に行ってきました。

すこし満開を過ぎてしまった感じですが、綺麗に咲いていましたよ。
